This update also includes hundreds of improvements initiated by system users.
VERICUT 9.3 focuses on creating smarter, more efficient manufacturing processes with features that collect machine, tool and workpiece data to improve machining simulation and the overall manufacturing process.
“VERICUT 9.3 provides more accurate data for smarter manufacturing, empowering our customers with cutting-edge technology. With advanced machining metrics, feedrate and tool deflection optimization, this version of VERICUT creates the most optimized yet safe CNC programs for any CNC machine,” says Gene Granata, director of product management.
“In version 9.3, Tool Manager connects users to online tool sources and tool databases to import smart cutting tools with associated data for proper use. The new tool performance database allows even non-machinists to select the appropriate feeds and speeds for machining a variety of standard materials,” continues Mr. Granata. “All this intelligence helps programmers use and optimize cutting tools for their intended purpose, avoiding tool failure and potential damage to parts and equipment.”
The integrated VERICUT Force optimization engine also received additional features and improvements in version 9.3. Along with improvements to key features and functionality, deflection calculations have been modified to take into account the entire rotary tool assembly, whereas previous versions only considered solid rotary tools with holders.
“Using VERICUT Force, tool life has increased by 40% and cycle time has been reduced by 30-40%,” comments Jason Mills, Technical Manager, Advanced Manufacturing, Ltd. (AML). “This module is invaluable to our manufacturing operations as it gives us a competitive advantage. It’s pretty easy to understand. We simply select the material from the database and enter the cutter geometry that we receive from the tool manufacturer. Force then performs its calculations in the background.”
Features of VERICUT 9.3
Create, manage, and reuse assemblies
Use the VERICUT Assembly Manager to create and manage CNC machine components such as rotary table configurations, angular machining heads, robotic end effectors, or various fixtures. The Assembly Library saves the programmer time as the data is now easily accessible and reusable in new VERICUT projects.
HUD status and improvements
Optimize processing and information displayed in the status window and head-up display (HUD). The HUD can automatically update to match visible state information, or use “Field Visibility Edit Mode” to edit state and HUD configurations simultaneously. Users can lock and unlock the visibility of state groups to maintain the same layout for each VERICUT project.
Optimization improvements in the Force module
Achieve better workpiece quality and longer tool and spindle bearing life with improvements to Force. Deflection calculations have been updated to account for the entire rotating tool assembly, including indexable cutters and cutters with model files. Users can also add Volume Removal Rate (VRR) limits to all cutters. Analysis and optimization for solid rotating tools and complex cutters have also been added.
Tool Performance Database (TPD) and Machine Optimization Data (MOD)
VERICUT Tool Manager now includes a Tool Performance Database (TPD) that offers starting spindle speeds and feed rates for use with cutters in a wide range of raw materials. This data works with Machining Optimization Data (MOD) in the VERICUT Tool Manager. MOD displays a table of spindle speeds and feed rates, which helps programmers select appropriate cutting speeds and chip thickness values depending on the cutting tool used and the material being processed.
Monitoring of CNC machines
Receive data directly from CNC machines on the shop floor for use in VERICUT. The first connectivity feature released with VERICUT 9.3 is Pre-Check, which collects data to ensure that the VERICUT virtual machine is the best possible “lookalike” and verifies that the job setup information on the machine matches what was embedded in VERICUT. Users can identify key differences to know exactly what will happen before running a part on their machine.
