New features introduced in PADS VX.2.11
This is primarily a release focused on adding new features and fixing reported customer defects – Service Requests (SRs). PADS VX.2.11 introduces the following new products, features, and enhancements.
PADS AMC
PADS AMS includes the following new features and updates in version VX.2.11.
Signal analyzer
Signal linewidth settings are now stored in the settings.properties file and persist across analyzer sessions. The settings.properties file is located in the .wfmview folder inside the WDIR folder. Font sizes have also been adjusted to be more compatible with high resolution (4k) monitors.
SPICE filename support
Prior to the release of VX.2.11, PADS AMS recognized SPICE filenames with .LIB and .MOD suffixes. Starting with this new release, the .CIR, .SPI, and .SUB extensions are also supported.
PSpice Converter
You can now resize the Converter log messages panel to make the messages easier to read. And the link to the PSpice converter log in the simulator output window is easier to see and use. When selected, the converter log appears in the PADS Designer text box.
Simulation management
All .OPTION commands entered in the Advanced tab of the Simulation Control dialog box are now remembered between simulation runs. In addition, these settings are consistent with the settings in the Convergence, Accuracy, and Speed (CAS) dialog box; changing the settings on the Advanced tab will update the CAS dialog box settings. Version VX.2.11 also includes improved support for the .ALTER, .STEP, and .EXTRACT modeling commands.
Documentation
The PADS AMS User Guide and Reference Guide are now combined into one document to streamline reference information.
Tutorial updates
Tutorial updates include changes to the tutorials Getting Started, How to Model Power Systems, How to Design and Analyze Power Converters, and How to Model Mechatronic Systems. This release also includes the new tutorials Using IBIS Models and Simulating Board Layouts. All tutorials are accessed via the menu item Help > AMS Tutorial > Tutorial Index.
Tool Dialogs
When using more than one monitor with earlier releases of PADS AMS, tool dialogs opened on the primary monitor even if the PADS AMS primary window was moved to a different monitor. Starting with VX.2.11, tool dialogs must be displayed on the same monitor as the main PADS AMS window.
Support for the Greek letter “μ”
Letters are commonly used to denote multipliers for components and simulation parameter values. For example, “m” is often used for “milli”, “n” for “nano”, “p” for “pico”, etc. The Greek letter “μ” and the English letter “u” are often used interchangeably for “micro” multiplier. In VX.2.10 and earlier, the PADS AMS netlist only supports “u” for “micro”. Since VX.2.11, the netlist recognizes both “u” and “μ”.

• Users can select nets by net class or highlight nets in the whiteboard viewer.
• Options for creating reports have been added to the Reports page.
• A graphical representation of the simulated channel blocks has been added to the reports.
• Added multi-frequency measurement of intra-pair asymmetry.
• Expanded support for the newer correction, including tabular FFE, tabular DFE, synchronized CTLE and QUAIL CTLE input.
• Measurements improved to support Tukey’s window
• Updated protocol support
DDRx and Power Analysis
• The DDR5 wizard has been improved to support updated analysis and simulation for newer DDR5 models.
• Power-Aware Modeling now supports a combination of S-parameters and built-in trace modeling for more flexible net selection.
